Manchester-Boston Regional Airport to Host Aviation Day 2024

[MANCHESTER, NH] – August 14, 2024 – Manchester-Boston Regional Airport (MHT) will host an Aviation Day celebration on Monday, August 19, 2024. The event will be held from 12 to 4 p.m. Passengers and the community are invited to visit MHT and check out the fun activities planned for the day.

Visit our “Touch-A-Truck” exhibit in Short Term Parking Lot A to learn about all the machines that keep MHT running—from snow removal equipment and Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) vehicles to the cargo containers that fill our Amazon planes and more. Check out a student-built aircraft, the RV-12iS, a two-seat all-metal light sport aircraft completed by local students with the help of the Aviation Museum of New Hampshire. Careers in aviation require a lot of STEM knowledge—check out our newest addition to Aviation Day, the STEM-MoBILE (STEM Mobile Biofabrication Integrated Lab Experience), a traveling lab from UNH Manchester bringing demonstrations, hands-on activities, and more.

Head inside to the pre-security area near Baggage Claim 3-5 for some exciting giveaways, including a chance to win two tickets on Avelo Airlines and two tickets on Breeze Airways from MHT to their respective destinations.* Participate in our paper airplane contest, grab some MHT swag, spin two different prize wheels for a chance to win, and visit displays from our partners to learn about job opportunities and how we all work together to make the Airport run.

Ready for a treat? Stop by the Alltown Fresh – Manchester table, where they will be handing out delicious chocolate chip cookies and other sweet treats, and then be sure to grab a bag of popcorn, made by our Granite State Ambassadors.

“National Aviation Day was first established in 1939 by Franklin Delano Roosevelt in honor of Orville Wright’s birthday,” said Airport Director Ted Kitchens, A.A.E. “We want to use this day to celebrate our industry’s history, share more about the exciting careers you can find right here at MHT, and show appreciation to our passengers for flying MHT. For those that are flying with MHT on the 19th, we will have a table near Gate 12 with MHT giveaways. Everyone else, stop by MHT, grab a cool treat or bag of popcorn, and come learn about what makes MHT consistently a top domestic airport in the country!”

*Avelo Airlines tickets are valid for travel to any of Avelo’s destinations from MHT, including RDU, GSP, LAL, and USA. Travel must be booked and completed by June 1, 2025. More details will be provided to the winner. Breeze Airways tickets are valid to any of Breeze’s destinations from MHT, including CHS, MCO, TPA, and RSW and will be awarded in the form of 40,000 BreezePoints ($400 value).
