Airlines Increase Capacity at Manchester-Boston Regional Airport for Summer 2022
The first weekend of June brings a 25% increase in capacity at MHT.
[MANCHESTER, NH] – June 3, 2022 – MANCHESTER-BOSTON REGIONAL AIRPORT (MHT) is excited to celebrate increased service into Manchester starting June 3 and continuing through the summer.
June 3, known as “603 Day” in New Hampshire because of the state’s area code, coincides with the beginning of increased summer travel for many airlines. Last year on June 3, MHT celebrated the return of United Airlines after a year away for the pandemic.
“It’s a super 603 day today, with several of our airlines increasing capacity as travel picks up for the summer,” said Airport Director Ted Kitchens, A.A.E. “This 603 day, we are seeing a significant increase of capacity through the return of our American Airlines flight to Chicago O’Hare, upgraded American flights to Charlotte, and an additional daily flight to Newark on United Airlines.”
American’s service to Chicago O’Hare (ORD) was paused in January and is returning twice daily on June 3. American is serving the route with two ERJ-175 aircraft, each with 12 business class seats and 64 economy seats.
In addition, American is upgrading their Charlotte (CLT) route to the Airbus 319. For the first time in almost five years, MHT will have mainline American aircraft to Charlotte. This will add 100 additional daily departing seats between MHT and CLT.
United Airlines will increase their number of daily flights to Newark (EWR) from two to three on June 3, adding back the CRJ-550 aircraft with 10 business class seats and 40 economy seats.
On June 5, Southwest Airlines will add an extra daily nonstop flight to Chicago Midway (MDW) on a 175-seat 737-800 aircraft.
The same day, Spirit Airlines will increase seating on its Orlando (MCO) and Fort Lauderdale (FLL) routes by upgrading the aircraft to an Airbus 321. This adds 92 additional seats to the market each day.
