Manchester-Boston Regional Airport Aces Fourth Consecutive FAA Inspection
Manchester-Boston Regional Airport’s (MHT) annual Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Part 139 Certification Inspection took place April 4-6, 2016. The inspection is conducted to ensure that the airport is meeting its obligations under its airport operating certificate. The certificate, issued by FAA, allows the airport to serve commercial airline operations.
This was the fourth consecutive year that the comprehensive, three day inspection revealed no items for correction. The inspection consisted of a review/analysis of the following safety and operational areas:
- aircraft rescue/firefighting equipment, training and response times
- airport emergency plan
- operations/maintenance personnel training and performance
- paved/unpaved safety areas and runway approaches
- marking and lighting
- snow and ice control procedures
- self-inspection program
- operations and maintenance records and logs
Additionally, this year’s inspection took place during an active snow storm and winter operations were closely observed.
Airport Director Mark Brewer commented, "This was a very unique certification inspection. It occurred at a time when our crews were managing several ongoing construction projects and experiencing a spring snow storm. Once again, our personnel and procedures stood up to the challenge. I would like to congratulate all of the hard working professionals at MHT for their continued dedication to safety and operational excellence.”
