Airport Contributed Nearly $1.24 Billion to the New Hampshire Economy in 2008

Manchester-Boston Regional Airport announced today that airport contributed nearly $1.24 billion to the local New Hampshire economy in 2008. The results follow a six-month Economic Impact Study conducted by global aviation cJacobs Consultancy. Airport Director Mark Brewer hosted the press conference and provided the following highlights:



  • Activities relating to Manchester-Boston Regional Airport account for 3,820 jobs in the Manchester area (Hillsborough, Merrimack and Rockingham Counties) and include 1,900 on-airport employees with an annual payroll of $75.8 million and 1,920 off-airport employees (businesses related to airport activity) with an annual payroll of $77.1 million.

  • Out of state passengers using Manchester-Boston Regional Airport to access the region for business and leisure spent $752.8 million on lodging, food/beverage, retail purchases, transportation and entertainment. Out of state passengers spent an average of $458.84 during their visit.

  • The airport’s economic impact grew 84% in only 5 years.


Airport Director Brewer commented that “this announcement would not be possible without the continued support of federal, state and local officials, and the laudable efforts of our airlines and other airport tenants.
